Sweet Sugar Plums

13 Jan

Missy has been doing ballet for a little while now. She loved the summer ballet program, so we put her in the regular class this year. She LOVES it. Last month she had her first winter performance. She and her classmates got to be little sugar plum fairies. They were adorable. ImageMissy really enjoyed the mirrors and ballet bars that are in the larger ballet studio that is in the community center where they had their performance. It was a bit crazy in that room with 30+ 3-12 year olds and only one young adult volunteer. Some of the older girls decided to round the little girls up and do some stretches and little dancer floor work. It was quite a success as many of the little ones were quite keen to join in with all of their friends.

Everyone did such a good job!

I just had to get an arial of her hair. I love how it turned out. SO CUTE!

I think Missy’s favorite part of the performance was the fact that she was allowed to wear a little bit of make up. For weeks afterwards she was trying to get me to let her wear it again. She kept saying, “but Mama! I’m a grown up now!”

Nice to know that the ballet hasn’t taken her goofy edge off. Ha Ha

Oh, Meg, both girls are adorable in the pictures. It must have been something special to watch Missy perform. 🙂

Yeah. It was so great. The song was about growing up to be the Sugar Plum Fairy someday, and the girls all did such a great job. 🙂

Missy is so cute! Did you make the flowers for her hair?

No, I actually got them at Gymboree. You could totally make them though.
